Dabiq, a political magazine for the Islamic State, has come out with a hit list for individuals in their latest issue. Included in this list is Huma Abedin, a veteran aide to Hillary Rodham Clinton, and Rep. Keith Ellison (D-Minn.), among other names. Abedin and Ellison are both Muslims, so it seems odd that they would be included on an assassination list from an Islamic State’s political magazine. But according to the article, they have both been branded as traitors.
The Dabiq states that both Abedin and Ellison are enforcing kufr – which means apostasy – and are considered “overt crusaders”. Essentially, they are being accused of supporting religious and political viewpoints contrary to the Muslim religion and the Islamic State. “[O]ne must not overlook the overt crusaders, those who don’t even wear the cloak of da’wah [evangelism], but instead directly involve themselves in politics and enforcing the laws of kufr, like (in the US) Mohamed Elibiary, Arif Alikhan, Rashad Hussain, Keith Ellison, Huma Abedin, etc.” states the Dabiq.
It’s interesting how we have handled Muslims in the past, specifically with kid’s gloves, in hopes of not inciting additional terrorist activity. Perhaps having a tougher stance is the better answer. After all, I didn’t see anyone affiliated with Donald Trump on the list.
